# RemainAI > Capture things fast, and find them again when they matter. Notes, todos and > your own shelves (a dictionary, a deck of cards, whatever you build) under > hierarchical tags that can carry instructions and run them on whatever you > file under them. Open source, with a hosted option. RemainAI is used from a web app, an Android app, a terminal client (`remain`), and, the part this file is mostly here for, from an AI agent, over the Model Context Protocol. A library also leaves and arrives as plain Markdown: `remain sync obsidian ` keeps a folder (an Obsidian vault's, say) filled with a file per item, a folder per tag, one way and safe to re-run; Settings downloads the same as a zip; `remain import ` turns Markdown files into notes marked as imported, after showing what it will do. There is nothing to install and no token to copy: the client reads the discovery documents off the 401, registers itself, and sends the person to a page where they approve it and choose what it may do. Approval is per permission (read their library, add to and change it, spend AI credits), and any connection can be ended from the app's settings, which stops it on its next request. Every route that touches anybody's data authenticates, and the connector flow ends at a screen a human has to approve. Reading this file gets an agent as far as knowing how to ask, and no further.
